Nokia partners on optical network in Mexico and data center upgrades in Seoul - July 2025

Nokia announced a partnership with MX Fiber to deploy a high-speed optical transport backbone in Southeast Mexico. This initiative aims to enhance internet access across several states including Chiapas and Tabasco, promoting digital inclusion. The network leverages Nokia’s Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) (DWDM) technology, providing scalable bandwidth up to 200G.

In another development, Nokia collaborated with Empyrion Digital to upgrade the KR1 Gangnam Data Center in Seoul, South Korea. This partnership focuses on enhancing operational capabilities and connectivity using Nokia's data center solutions, adapting to the increasing data traffic demands across the region.

Nokia also joined forces with Andorix to improve Private 5G networks in North America targeting real estate. This collaboration provides advanced connectivity solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency while addressing cybersecurity needs in commercial and industrial spaces.

Nokia appointed David Heard as President of Network Infrastructure as part of its leadership changes. Heard, who previously served as Chief Strategic Growth Officer, will report directly to the CEO, with a structured transition planned as Federico Guillén prepares for retirement in December 2025.

The company continues to expand its 5G capabilities, emphasizing partnerships and technological advancements that respond to the growing demands of digital infrastructure across various sectors globally.
