Cloudera Releases Data Readiness Index 2026 on Scaling AI in Healthcare
Cloudera released The Data Readiness Index 2026, reporting that healthcare organizations faced barriers to scaling AI tied to data access, governance, and infrastructure performance. The findings focus on whether organizations could operationalize AI consistently as data volumes and distribution increased.
The report said 87% of healthcare respondents had visibility into where data resided, while integration, governance, and operationalization of trusted data remained difficult at scale. It also reported that 28% said infrastructure performance consistently hindered operational initiatives. The research connected these issues to challenges supporting AI across distributed environments.
Cloudera described a need for governed data as a foundation for operationalizing AI. It also stated that moving regulated healthcare data into a single public cloud environment could be impractical, costly, and difficult to govern, according to Rameez Chatni. The company tied the problem to distributing AI capabilities across data locations rather than consolidating data alone.
The Data Readiness Index 2026 was released with healthcare findings drawn from the research report. Chatni said healthcare providers needed the flexibility to bring AI to governed data wherever it lived, across data centers, clouds, and edge environments. The company made the report available through Cloudera.com.
“Healthcare organizations are managing enormous volumes of highly sensitive and distributed patient and operational data, yet many still struggle to operationalize AI consistently across environments,” said Rameez Chatni, Global Director of AI Solutions - Healthcare and Life Sciences at Cloudera. “Moving large amounts of regulated healthcare data into a single public cloud environment is often impractical, costly, and difficult to govern. To scale AI successfully, healthcare providers need the flexibility to bring AI to governed data wherever it lives, across data centers, clouds, and edge environments.”
