BT brings dedicated 5G+ connectivity to Royal Welsh Show to power payments, livestreaming and customer experiences

BT and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society are using 5G+ network slicing at this year’s Royal Welsh Show to support mission-critical services, local businesses, and real-time content sharing during the event.
The deployment covers mobile payments systems and digital engagement activities at the showground, which typically attracts up to 250,000 visitors over four days.
Network slicing is described as delivering a dedicated, protected slice of the mobile network for specific use cases, with the stated goal of avoiding performance impact when the public network is congested. BT also described its 5G+ as its most powerful form of 5G connectivity.
At the Show, BT said it supported multiple connections via network slicing to power mobile payments systems for Radnor Hills and Fire and Flank, and to enable livestreaming and content uploads by 2026 Show Ambassador Teleri-Haf Thomas and the RWS team itself when tens of thousands of visitors were on site. BT also said it prepared to launch its first slicing services for customers later this summer.
