Varonis launches Next-Gen Database Activity Monitoring
Varonis Systems, Inc. launches a cloud-native solution for database security and compliance in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Edge Resource Allocator (ERA).
Varonis Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRNS) introduced its Next-Gen Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) on July 28, 2025. This offering addresses challenges faced by legacy vendors in preventing data breaches and ensuring compliance. The cloud-native solution aims to provide a quick deployment without the complexities associated with traditional systems.
Database security has grown challenging as they underpin essential functions in the economy, including AI Operations (AIOps). Varonis emphasized the need for innovation in the DAM market, traditionally stifled by limited competition and outdated technologies.
Terry Ray, Varonis VP of Product Strategy, noted that legacy DAM solutions, such as those from Imperva and IBM, rely on old, agent-based technologies that are time-consuming to implement. Varonis aims to provide a faster, cloud-based alternative that exceeds mere compliance obligations.
The Next-Gen DAM, part of the Varonis Data Security Platform, features comprehensive activity monitoring, User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), data discovery and classification, as well as database access control. It also incorporates automated remediation capabilities to strengthen data security.
Varonis stated the importance of a unified data security platform in the AI ERA, emphasizing a consolidated approach that eliminates isolated security product siloes. This integration helps organizations manage sensitive data exposure and respond to threats effectively.
Varonis’ Next-Gen DAM capabilities are compatible with numerous databases, including Databricks, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, Amazon RDS, Postgres, Oracle, and Snowflake. This broad support aims to further streamline data protection efforts across different environments.
