Summary
Tech Mahindra and Mastercard formed a partnership aimed at modernizing business-to-business payments for global organizations. The companies described the work as a way to improve working capital, strengthen spend controls, and speed up payment execution and reconciliation.
Procurement complexity keeps growing for organizations, supply-chain volatility persists, and working capital pressure remains. Supplier management is fragmented, approval processes remain manual, and traditional B2B payment systems create inefficiencies in onboarding and reconciliation while limiting real-time visibility.
Under the arrangement, Mastercard’s embedded payment capabilities and global virtual card ecosystem will be integrated with enterprise resource planning platforms and other procure-to-pay and source-to-pay platforms. Secure virtual card and payment functions will be embedded directly into those procurement and ERP environments, supported by API-led integration, payment automation, real-time reconciliation, fraud management, and enhanced payment controls within the software environments businesses already use.
Tech Mahindra’s enterprise transformation expertise will be paired with Mastercard’s embedded payments capabilities and virtual card ecosystem. The stated goal is to automate transactions, increase financial visibility, and reduce operational friction across finance, treasury, accounts payable, procurement, and supplier management.
“Enterprises should not have to choose between modern payment capabilities and the technology investments they already rely on,” said Roshan Shetty of Tech Mahindra. Unlike standalone payment offerings, the partnership integrates financial functions into existing business processes, allowing enterprises to link procurement modernization with broader ERP and digital transformation work.
“Our partnership with Tech Mahindra brings together payments and enterprise transformation expertise to help organizations automate payment processes, improve visibility and control, and optimize working capital, while creating more efficient, connected experiences for their suppliers,” said Rebecca Meeker, SVP of B2B Platforms and Embedded Finance at Mastercard. The companies described the arrangement as a step toward a more automated and resilient B2B payments ecosystem.
