ScyllaDB introduced Full-Text Search as part of its X Cloud release, extending ScyllaDB’s real-time data platform with keyword search capabilities intended to work alongside Vector Search.
The update focused on providing fast lexical retrieval while semantic search support remained available through Vector Search. ScyllaDB 2026.3 included the ability to use BM25-ranked Full-Text Search alongside ScyllaDB Vector Search for retrieval from operational data.
According to the company, Full-text indexes run on dedicated indexing nodes and are maintained in memory for fast retrieval. Full-text Search was presented as designed for latency-sensitive, high-throughput workloads, including support for heavy write workloads and rapidly changing datasets.
ScyllaDB said its CEO Dor Laor described Full Text Search as an extension of the ScyllaDB X Cloud offering, adding performance and elasticity to the Text Search domain. The release included features such as BM25 relevance ranking, Boolean and phrase search, language-specific analyzers and stemming, multiple full-text indexes per table, full-text and vector indexes on the same table, and CQL-native querying, along with dedicated independently scalable indexing nodes. “Full Text Search extended our ScyllaDB X Cloud offering, bringing ScyllaDB superior performance and elasticity to the Text Search domain. Both Text and Vector Search are important parts of our realtime AI offering.”
ScyllaDB also described Full-Text Search and Vector Search as complementary for hybrid retrieval, and said Full-Text Search would be available in ScyllaDB 2026.3.
