Summary
Capital One Ventures led a $150 million strategic investment in Sentra, the agentic data security company. The investment follows a year of more than 300% year-over-year growth, as enterprises turn to the company to understand their data and govern which human and AI identities can access it.
Data security was designed around human users, and three developments challenge that model at the same time. Business teams are rolling out copilots, assistants, and cloud AI services faster than governance can keep pace. Sensitive data is spread across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises systems, outpacing legacy visibility tools. AI agents are scaling rapidly, and each one functions as a new identity that accesses data continuously at machine speed with no central control plane.
Rather than inspecting each agent request, Sentra protects data at rest across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments. Before agents act, it classifies sensitive data, maps reachable access including inherited permissions, and enforces least privilege for non-human identities. During agent activity, data-aware detection flags unusual access, and automated remediation revokes it and routes high-risk issues to data owners.
The funding accelerates innovation in broader visibility into agents, copilots, and models, continuous least privilege, protection of data before agents reach it, and rapid containment when an agent behaves unexpectedly. Sentra analyzes data where it lives, inside the customer's environment, so sensitive data never leaves it. A Capital One representative will join the board of directors, and Lyft has adopted Sentra as its data security solution.
Yoav Regev, co-founder and CEO of Sentra, said, “Traditional perimeter controls weren't built for agents moving at machine speed.” Chaim Sanders, CISO at Lyft, said, “Sentra gives us that answer across our whole environment, so security helps the rollout instead of slowing it down.”
Sentra plans to expand its go-to-market efforts by scaling field and channel programs, growing brand and marketing, and entering new geographies.
