Gilat Satellite Networks receives order for customized Earth Observation Solution

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. secured an order valued at around $10 million to provide a customized Earth Observation Solution, projected for delivery within 12 months. The solution introduces a transportable direct downlink terminal designed to facilitate real-time satellite data acquisition.

This development expands Gilat Defense’s range of capabilities beyond its established Satellite Communications (Satcom) expertise into earth observation and geospatial insight services. The solution is intended to support functions such as intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, and situational awareness through satellite sensor data.

The deployed system leverages satellite technology with varied sensors to ensure secure and timely delivery of observational data, particularly in remote environments. This first-to-market terminal aims to enhance the operational accessibility of earth observation insights by providing a portable direct downlink capability.

The scope of the project involves the production and delivery of the Earth Observation Solution by Gilat DataPath, a division within Gilat Satellite Networks, over the next year. The program aligns with Gilat’s broader technology portfolio that includes satellite, ground, and space connectivity components.

Nicole Robinson, President of Gilat DataPath, said, “Nations today rely on resilient, mission-tailored insights and intelligence as they seek to understand the security environment, humanitarian assistance and first responder efforts. This award underscores confidence in our ability to deliver customized Earth observation capabilities based upon our time tested and trusted SATCOM terminal solutions that enhance operational performance. We are proud to support our customer’s mission and continue broadening our offerings.”

Future activities related to this order will involve fulfilling the delivery within the 12-month timeframe, integrating with existing Gilat technology platforms, and supporting advancements in earth observation applications.
