Gilat Satellite Networks receives $39 million order for Sidewinder ESA terminals

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. received $39 million in orders from a leading satellite operator for its Sidewinder electronically steered antenna in-flight connectivity terminals, and the company said the orders reflected airlines and service providers working to meet rapidly growing demand for high quality in-flight broadband.

The release placed the orders in the context of an accelerating global shift toward Electrical Substation Automation (ESA) solutions and noted support for multi-orbit operation across LEO Constellation (Low Earth Orbit) (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) orbits. It also referenced Gilat’s subsidiaries—Gilat Wavestream, Gilat DataPath, and Gilat Stellar Blu—and described product support delivered via the company’s Commercial and Defense Divisions.

The company said the Sidewinder ESA terminal featured an architecture, multi-orbit capability across Low Earth Orbit (LEO), MEO and GEO orbits, and suitability for both linefit and retrofit installation, and it listed related product types and systems in its portfolio, including software-defined platforms, modems, high-performance satellite terminals, SOTM antennas, SSAPAs and BUCs.

The $39 million order covered Sidewinder ESA terminals for both linefit and retrofit installations and was placed by a leading satellite operator; the release specified that deliveries were expected over the following 12 months.

“Demand for high-performance ESA terminals continues to grow as airlines seek quality multi-orbit connectivity solutions that provide seamless broadband across geographies and satellite constellations,” said Ron Levin, President, Gilat Commercial.

The release stated that certain non-historical statements were forward-looking under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act and identified risks that could cause actual results, performance or achievements to differ from those stated.
