Fortinet introduces FortiGate 1200G series with FortiSASE Outpost

Fortinet said it introduced the FortiGate 1200G series as an addition to the FortiGate G series with FortiSASE Outpost, providing cloud-delivered security services in customer-controlled environments. The update is designed to support local and cloud approaches for security inspection and policy enforcement, with the capability to keep protection consistent across hybrid deployments.

Fortinet linked the FortiGate 1200G series to requirements tied to AI infrastructure, including inspection of growing traffic volumes and the need to control where enforcement occurs based on application performance, data sovereignty, compliance, and operational requirements. The company also said the system included hardware-rooted protections and connectivity options intended to support enterprise and data center environments.

Built on FortiOS, the FortiGate 1200G series used Fortinet’s latest FortiASIC architecture to accelerate networking and security processing. Fortinet said the product offered flexible 10G, 25G, and 100G connectivity, with local enforcement available when configured as a FortiSASE Outpost. In this configuration, the FortiGate operated as an ASIC-accelerated on-site SASE point of presence for security inspection, policy enforcement, and access control, while the FortiSASE interface centrally managed configuration, policy, monitoring, lifecycle operations, and upgrades across local and cloud deployment models.

Fortinet said the FortiGate 1200G was expected to be available in Q3 2026.
