Fortinet Training Institute Launches Free Technical High School Cybersecurity Curriculum

Fortinet Training Institute launched the Technical High School Cybersecurity Curriculum, a set of free technical cybersecurity courses for students in U.S. secondary schools. The program is positioned as an entry point into a two-year cybersecurity pathway.

The curriculum is available to schools across the United States through Fortinet’s Security Awareness and Training Service. Fortinet described the offering as no-cost, standards-aligned content intended for educators and district technology leaders, with a plan to expand cybersecurity programming without adding budget strain or instructional bandwidth.

Fortinet Training Institute said the curriculum uses a two-course format, with each course scheduled for a full school year, approximately 180 days, or 145 hours. It is organized to support core cybersecurity knowledge and prerequisites before students learn advanced technical cybersecurity skills.

Cybersecurity 1: Foundations is presented as a first year-long course focused on introducing key skills and knowledge and encouraging students to consider continuing education and cybersecurity careers. Cybersecurity 2: Fundamentals is the second year-long course that focuses on technical and practical cybersecurity skills, advanced concepts, and serves as a bridge to industry-standard cybersecurity certifications.
