Fortinet said it received recognition in Gartner’s 2026 Magic Quadrant for Hybrid Mesh Firewall, including a top position for Ability to Execute. The company framed the result as a measure of how its firewall and related management capabilities operate across different deployment types.
According to the release, Fortinet’s placement came with recognition across 11 Gartner Magic Quadrant reports covering networking and security. It also tied the Hybrid Mesh Firewall recognition to the company’s custom-built FortiASICs and FortiOS, described as a single operating system spanning physical, virtual, cloud-native, and as-a-service deployments.
The release said FortiGate firewall solutions use FortiOS and draw on the Fortinet AI-native Security Fabric to provide consistent protection, performance, and operational simplicity across the hybrid enterprise. It also described Hybrid Mesh Firewall solutions as protecting enterprise perimeter, heavy branch, data center, carrier-grade, and managed security environments, with centralized management and common FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services.
Fortinet said Hybrid Mesh Firewall enforcement could be delivered via cloud through FortiSASE, through a customer-controlled FortiGate with FortiSASE Outpost capabilities, or through an on-site FortiGate providing local enforcement with FortiSASE. The company also described FortiOS as integrating enterprise-class routing, secure SD-WAN, and next-generation firewall capabilities, and said it continued extending the offering through AI-based automation, PQC, and multi-cloud orchestration. “Enterprise firewall expertise is earned through the trust and confidence customers place in a solution to protect their most critical environments,” said Anthony James, EVP of Marketing at Fortinet.
