BT said it would make BT TV available from 15 October, with the service combining live television, streaming services, and premium content in one place. The company positioned the update as part of its connected offering spanning broadband, TV, and mobile.
BT described BT TV as a way to reduce the complexity of accessing content across multiple apps, subscriptions, and devices. It said the service brings together live TV, streaming, and premium content under a single offering for customers.
Functionally, BT TV includes features such as a single search experience that brings content from multiple services together. BT TV Box Pro was described as supporting streaming plus the ability to pause, rewind live TV, and record over 600 hours of TV. BT TV Box Edge was described as a compact box for accessing and saving favourite on-demand and catch-up shows.
Luciano Oliveira, Managing Director Products, Consumer, BT, said: “Finding something great to watch shouldn’t mean navigating a maze of apps, subscriptions and devices. We’ve designed BT TV to bring customers’ entertainment and sport together, making it easier to find what they love, and giving them the freedom to watch live, record their favourites and catch-up when it suits them. Combined with BT broadband, it gives customers a simpler, more complete connected experience from the provider they know and trust.”
