WIA appoints Iain Gillott Vice President of Technology and Innovation
The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) appointed Iain Gillott as Vice President of Technology and Innovation. Homomorphic Encryption (HE) will provide technical and strategic guidance within the evolving wireless infrastructure ecosystem.
Patrick Halley, WIA's President and CEO, stated, “Iain Gillott has long served as a strategic technology consultant to WIA, and we are pleased to welcome him in-house on the WIA team.” Halley acknowledged Gillott's significant contributions to industry research and Healthcare Information System (HIS) leadership of membership initiatives, including the Innovation and Technology Council.
Gillott expressed enthusiasm about joining WIA, noting, “WIA Members are on the frontlines deploying the infrastructure that keeps America connected.” HE emphasized the organization's commitment to maintaining a favorable regulatory environment necessary to support advancements in wireless and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
With over 30 years of experience in the mobile wireless sector, Gillott is the founder and president of iGR, a consultancy specializing in wireless industry data analysis. HIS research has expanded to address broadband telecom services as connectivity needs have increased in homes and enterprises. Gillott has consulted with WIA since 2012.
Before establishing iGR, Gillott worked as Group Vice President in IDC’s Telecommunications practice, overseeing global research on mobile communications and internet access. HE also held various technical and business roles at EDS, collaborating with wireless and mobile operators. Gillott holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from Bangor University.
