Viasat unveils HaloNet capability portfolio for near-Earth communications

Viasat introduced a modular portfolio, HaloNet™, enhancing connectivity for data transport.

Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), unveiled its HaloNet™ portfolio, designed to unify space and terrestrial connectivity. This solution caters to government and commercial entities demanding adaptable communication infrastructures for near-Earth operations. HaloNet addresses the necessity for reliable and secure data transport amid increasing complexities in space missions.

The growing operations of LEO Constellation (Low Earth Orbit) (LEO) satellite operators demand efficient data handling capabilities. HaloNet’s design ensures that communication remains agile while fulfilling mission-specific requirements across diverse orbital inclinations and altitudes. It aims to facilitate continuous spacecraft contact and real-time data transport.

HaloNet supports up to thousands of space vehicles, providing comprehensive communication solutions. It features several services, including Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) Data Relay, ensuring real-time connectivity. The platform also supports Launch Telemetry and High-Capacity Data Relay services, which allow for significant data transmission without advance scheduling.

Craig Miller, President of Viasat Government, emphasized the necessity of an adaptable communication infrastructure, stating, “The HaloNet portfolio enables us to meet evolving near-Earth mission communications needs, as well as capability requirements for scientific and defense missions.”

Additionally, the HaloNet service provides Direct-to-Earth connectivity through Viasat’s broad global ground station network, enabling high-performance data dissemination. This tailored approach allows mission planners to select optimal data transport pathways for specific operational goals.

John Reeves, Vice President of Space and Mission Systems at Viasat, noted, “HaloNet is helping transform near-Earth communications... addressing customer needs through a combined solutions portfolio.” This underscores Viasat’s commitment to offering robust data transport and connectivity for diverse mission profiles.
