Teradata Integrates Its Autonomous Knowledge Platform With Microsoft OneLake
Teradata said it integrated its Teradata Autonomous Knowledge Platform with Microsoft OneLake so enterprise customers could run Teradata workloads on OneLake data where it already resided. The change addressed the need to access data across environments without extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines, duplication, or migration.
Teradata said the integration focused on reducing the work involved in synchronizing data between analytics platforms. It also framed data governance, including security policies and lineage, as traveling with the data rather than being rebuilt for each copy.
The integration relied on open Apache Iceberg standards. Teradata users could query OneLake tables in place using standard Iceberg APIs, while cross-platform authentication and access controls were handled natively, including Microsoft Entra ID for cross-platform authentication.
Teradata said the approach enabled read access to OneLake tables via Iceberg APIs, supporting workloads that included complex joins, AI feature pipelines, and SLA-bound tactical queries against data stored in OneLake without modifying the data or requiring it to exist elsewhere. Teradata also said the integration would be available through read access to OneLake tables, with a demonstration scheduled for Sep 28 to Oct 1, 2026, at the European Microsoft Fabric + SQL Community Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
