Teradata added a set of deployment and platform capabilities intended to give governments and enterprises greater control over the data, AI, and technology behind their most critical operations.

Sovereignty extends beyond data residency as AI enters mission-critical operations, reaching where AI runs, which models are used, and who operates the environment. A 2026 BARC study of 320 decision-makers found that 62 percent of organizations cite data and AI in core business processes as a key driver of sovereignty requirements. Gartner projects that by 2030, more than 75 percent of enterprises outside the United States will have a digital sovereignty strategy.

Teradata Factory is an integrated hardware and software rack that brings a private enterprise data and AI environment onto customer-controlled on-premises infrastructure. The expanded AI Studio capabilities, available in Q1 2027, cover data, vectors, models, and agents through components including Tera, AgentStack, model services, data pipelines, and analytics.

Teradata Sovereign Cloud on Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped provides a cloud operating model with no connection to the public internet, operated by the customer. Teradata supplies the analytics layer within that boundary for uses such as operational reporting, mission analysis, intelligence fusion, training and simulation analytics, and defense logistics and sustainment. It is currently available in Private Preview.

Sumeet Arora, Chief Product Officer at Teradata, said, “As AI becomes embedded in mission-critical decisions, organizations can no longer treat sovereignty as a data-location requirement.” Muninder Singh Sambi, VP of Product Management at Google Distributed Cloud, said, “Google Distributed Cloud is purpose-built, air-gapped infrastructure that delivers complete technical, operational and software sovereignty.”
