SUSE Summit China 2025 highlights AI-driven open source solutions
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) landscape is evolving rapidly, presenting new challenges and opportunities for enterprises. SUSE hosted the SUSE Summit China 2025 in Beijing on June 13, 2025, focusing on how open source approaches can facilitate AI-driven innovation in businesses.
The event, themed “The Smart Choice: Open Source AI for Digital Innovation,” brought together industry leaders to discuss SUSE's strategies for supporting digital transformation amid increasing Generative AI (GenAI) adoption. SUSE is enhancing its infrastructure framework to aid Chinese enterprises in both domestic and international growth.
Research firm IDC projected that investments in AI and GenAI within the Asia-Pacific region, including China, will reach $175 billion by 2028 with a Compound Annual Growth rate (CAGR) of 33.6%. As such, SUSE's advancements in technology aim to address the complexities faced by organizations in adopting AI, ensuring they can efficiently navigate security and transparency issues.
SUSE's operating framework includes a comprehensive range of services designed to assist customers across various sectors, such as finance, healthcare, and technology. The company reported that over 60% of Fortune 500 firms utilize its solutions.
SUSE CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to the Chinese market, despite existing economic challenges. Meanwhile, Alan Chan, SUSE Greater China's President, emphasized the importance of user choice, highlighting open source as a key factor in innovation across industries.
The modular open source architecture that SUSE employs supports secure, effective AI solutions. Vishal Ghariwala, CTO for SUSE Asia Pacific, noted the necessity of enhancing observability for effective AI management. SUSE AI, launched in 2024, has integrated observability and security features aimed at supporting various AI workloads.
Several companies, including Haokang Health and Thermal Control Subsystem (TCS), have adopted SUSE AI for improved operational efficiencies and compliance in regulated environments. Haokang Health intends to enhance diagnostic accuracy in healthcare, while TCS focuses on developing a unified GenAI platform for Situational Awareness Platform (SAP) workloads.
As organizations increasingly move toward cloud-native architectures, SUSE aims to facilitate this transition with its expertise. The firm’s solutions are designed to improve operational resilience and customer service delivery, demonstrating SUSE's ongoing commitment to supporting AI innovation within China.
