Token Security and Descope Launch AI Security Guide for Agentic AI Adoption

New maturity model helps enterprises safely and securely navigate the shift to autonomous Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents without delaying innovation.

As Agentic AI evolves, Token Security and Descope launched the AI Security Guide: A Maturity Model for Secure Agentic AI Adoption. The guide aids organizations in adopting agentic AI securely and responsibly at scale while fostering AI development.

This comprehensive framework incorporates insights from cybersecurity leaders, including CISOs from Silicon Valley CISO Investments, Vercel, and Xcel Energy. “We’re entering a world where AI doesn’t just suggest, it acts,” said Itamar Apelblat, Co-Founder and CEO of Token Security. He noted that Non-Human Identities (NHIs) will soon surpass human identities, raising new security priorities.

Rishi Bhargava, Co-Founder of Descope, indicated the guide addresses a frequent concern from CISOs and developers: ensuring AI systems operate securely. The guide emphasizes treating AI agents as critical elements of security, integrating secure authentication, and policy-based governance to ensure safe deployments.

The four-phase maturity model outlined in the guide includes:

1. Ad-hoc AI Adoption and Deployment

2. Structured AI Enablement and Integration

3. Operationalizing AI Infrastructure and Governance

4. Autonomous AI Action and Operational Control

Contributing authors include experts such as Ty Sbano, former CISO at Vercel, and Shaun Marion, VP and CISO at Xcel Energy. Marion emphasized the importance of the guide, stating it provides security leaders with a framework to navigate the complexities introduced by autonomous AI actions.

To introduce the guide, Token Security and Descope will host an Agentic AI Security Dinner on August 27, 2025, in San Francisco. This gathering will facilitate discussions among security leaders regarding best practices and implementation challenges related to the secure deployment of agentic AI.
