Sophos makes Microsoft 365 backup and recovery powered by Rubrik available

Sophos and Rubrik have made Sophos Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik Cyber Resilience generally available for Sophos customers. The offering targets recovery of Microsoft 365 data after ransomware, account compromise, insider threats, or accidental deletion.

The companies said the capability is managed within Sophos Central, where Sophos customers already run their security operations. They linked the update to a prior August 2025 partnership that brought integrated Microsoft 365 backup and recovery capabilities into production.

The solution integrates Rubrik’s SaaS-based Microsoft 365 protection into Sophos Central. It covers Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, with air-gapped, immutable backups described as WORM-locked and supported by customer-controlled encryption. Rubrik data protection elements were also described as enabling granular search and restore to original or alternate users, including inactive accounts.

Tom Foucha, VP product management at Sophos, said, “By bringing recovery directly into the same platform where security teams detect and respond to threats, we’re making cyber resilience practical.” Mallika Swaminathan, product management lead at Rubrik, said, “By embedding recovery into Sophos Central, we’re simplifying how organizations protect and restore their Microsoft 365 data in critical moments.” The companies said the offering is available as an add-on and can be activated via a Sophos partner or sales representative.
