Skyworks Solutions, Inc. said its Si829x isolated safety gate driver with ProVCD™ technology moved from development into pre-production release for EV traction inverter prototyping. The update matters for engineering teams that need a qualified gate-driver component for prototype designs where automotive qualification and documentation are part of the evaluation process.
Skyworks reported that AEC-Q100 automotive qualification for the Si829x was completed. It said the part supported initial customer product evaluation through pre-production prototypes, with samples, tools, user guides, and application notes available for evaluation and integration work.
The Si829x targeted functional safety system designs rated up to ASIL D, subject to system-level implementation and validation. Skyworks described integrated diagnostic fault coverage and safety mechanisms that included power-up self-checks and safe state enforcement, as well as advanced isolation technology certified by multiple independent organizations.
In terms of gate drive control, Skyworks stated the device used ProVCD™, described as a variable current drive accessed through a digital interface. The company said the platform supported customer development tools including two evaluation board kits, companion GUI software, and complex device driver (CDD) software, and that it supported configurable gate drive parameters through software rather than fixed hardware components. “Si829x gives customers a qualified path from evaluation to advanced prototypes,” said Mario Battello, vice president of product line management at Skyworks.
Skyworks also stated the Si829x platform was available for sampling and that any forward-looking statements in the release were made as of the date of publication.
