Siemens and Tulip See AI Gains in Manufacturing Execution System Findings
ABI Research released findings on how Artificial Intelligence is being applied in Manufacturing Execution System environments, with a focus on practical use cases that rely on human validation. The report frames trust, governance, and deployment models as central factors in how vendors are evaluated.
The analysis states that manufacturers are favoring AI that supports operational workflows without autonomous execution. ABI Research also reported expected spending patterns for Generative AI in MES, including on-premises investment compared with SaaS, along with spending expectations for Agentic AI.
The report cites ABI Research analyst Colin McMahon as saying that vendors align AI with repeatability, transparency, and human oversight. McMahon also said differentiation in MES depends on combining AI with data architecture and IT governance, along with deployment models manufacturers can trust.
ABI Research identified Siemens and Tulip for AI application within MES and described Siemens as having an AI portfolio, an enterprise-scale ecosystem, and digital thread capabilities. For Tulip, the report described human-first AI, composable workflow-native functionality, and frontline enablement.
