Schneider Electric, Siemens AG, and GE Vernova take top spots in ABI Research's energy grid digitalization technologies competitive ranking
A recent Competitive Ranking by Application Binary Interface (ABI) Research has identified Schneider Electric as the leading provider of energy grid digitalization technology, surpassing Siemens AG and GE Vernova. This ranking is based on an evaluation of various criteria, including innovation, implementation, and the strength of specific technologies such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Management Systems (DERMS).
The ranking assessed eight technology vendors across critical areas such as the comprehensiveness of their grid management solutions and the effectiveness of their partnerships with transmission and distribution operators. Other factors considered were the adoption rates of their solutions among utilities, their sustainability strategies, and the synergy between their products.
The key findings categorize vendors into Market Leaders, Mainstream, and Followers. Market Leaders include Schneider Electric, Siemens AG, and GE Vernova. Mainstream vendors are Hitachi Energy and ABB, while Followers include Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. and Honeywell.
Daniel Burge, Research Analyst at ABI Research, noted that the increasing complexities of electricity management due to capacity issues and distributed renewable assets drive the demand for advanced technologies. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with vendors who can offer comprehensive digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Schneider Electric's top position is attributed to its strong portfolio in energy trading and cybersecurity, as well as its commitment to sustainability. Other companies like Hitachi Energy are also making strides in the space, with innovations like the Nostradamus Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution.
Burge stated that those managing energy networks face significant challenges and that digitalization will require a range of high-quality solutions and robust partnerships for effective management of grid capacity and renewable energy flow.
This analysis forms part of the Energy Grid Digitalization Technologies Competitive Ranking report from ABI Research, which includes various insights into market trends and developments.
