Ribbon Communications partners with One New Zealand on cloud-native voice
Ribbon Communications Inc. and One New Zealand partnered to introduce cloud-native voice technology across Aotearoa (New Zealand) to modernize voice services and enhance security and scalability.
The organizations positioned the deployment as addressing operational needs for secure and manageable voice connectivity and for improving customer experience and service resilience in New Zealand.
One NZ used cloud-native instances of Ribbon's Session Border Controller (SBC), Policy and Routing Engine (PSX), Application Management Platform (RAMP), and Analytics to deliver voice services with cloud-focused scalability and centralized management. Ribbon described the SBC and PSX as working together to provide a secure, scalable voice architecture; the SBC enabled flexible call capacity, security functions, and integration with Calling for Microsoft Teams, while its microservices and Kubernetes foundation supported reliability and efficiency.
PSX functioned as a centralized control point for policy and routing and applied fraud controls across Points of Presence (PoP) (PoPs), and a continuous feedback loop among the SBC, PSX, and Ribbon Analytics was said to enable adaptation to emerging fraud and spam tactics and to pave the way for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities for proactive threat detection. The solution delivered enhanced fraud detection, identifying and blocking an average of 500,000 suspicious calls every month to mitigate toll fraud, spoofing, and robocalls before they reached customers.
“Calling remains central to how Kiwis connect every day,” said Ian Sutton, Head of Network Services at One NZ. “By working with Ribbon, we're making our voice services smart, secure, and future-ready. It's about giving our customers the best possible experience today, and the resilience they'll need tomorrow.” “We're proud to partner with One NZ to deliver the cloud native voice services that meet the demands of today's digital-first world to Aotearoa (New Zealand),” said Pierre-Jean Chalon, Vice President Asia Pacific Sales at Ribbon Communications.
The release included forward-looking statements and noted that actual results may differ materially from those statements and referred readers to Ribbon Communications' Risk Factors in its most recent annual or quarterly report.
