Replit has expanded its government business and appointed Michael Greenwald, a former U.S. Treasury diplomat and Amazon Web Services executive, as President of Corporate Affairs. The appointment is intended to speed up the company's expansion into the public sector.
Replit's enterprise business has grown over the past 12 months, and Atlassian, Adobe, Visa, and Databricks are among the companies that use the platform. Within enterprises, business doubles six months after a single department adopts Replit and expands 400% over 12 months. Adoption among government agencies is strong at the national, state, and local levels in the United States and overseas, including the Middle East.
The platform allows anyone to build applications using natural language. Replit pioneered agents in 2024, and it is regarded as a way for employees to build and scale applications rapidly and securely.
Jordan's Ministry of Education and National Council for Future Technology used Replit to develop Siraj, an AI learning assistant that now reaches 1.3 million users across 5,800 schools. Replit is also working with HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia's national AI company, to make Saudi Arabia the first country to put AI coding agents in the hands of every student.
Michael Greenwald previously served as Director of Global Executive Relations at AWS and spent nearly a decade at the U.S. Treasury Department, including as the first Treasury attaché to Qatar and Kuwait. Separately, Replit opened its first international office, in London, last month with support from Mayor Sadiq Khan.
“We're seeing more enterprises use Replit across their teams to securely and rapidly build and deploy apps, and now governments are doing the same,” said Amjad Masad, co-founder and CEO of Replit. “Replit empowers every American, and every global citizen, to be the architect of their own future,” said Greenwald. Gartner projects that by 2028, at least 80% of governments will deploy AI agents to automate routine decisions.
