Platform9 announces availability of Private Cloud Director Community Edition

Platform9 has announced the General Availability (GA) of Private Cloud Director Community Edition, providing a complimentary version for single-region deployments. This edition offers users the full Private Cloud Director experience without hidden fees or time constraints, and it is supported by the community.

Private Cloud Director allows virtualization administrators to utilize enterprise-grade features, including Virtual Machine (VM) High Availability and Software Defined Networking (SDN). It can be installed on existing x86 server hardware or a VM with minimal requirements.

The Community Edition enables users to explore Private Cloud Director's capabilities as they consider alternatives to legacy VM environments. It is suited for small deployments such as homelabs and proof-of-concept labs, employing open source k3s for a lightweight installation. Users looking for production deployment are encouraged to switch to the enterprise version that includes full customer support.
