OpenAI partners with G42 to build AI data center in Abu Dhabi - June 5, 2025

OpenAI partnered with G42 to develop a substantial Artificial Intelligence (AI) data center in Abu Dhabi, marking its first major initiative outside the U.S. The project, named Stargate UAE, is expected to have a capacity of 1 gigawatt, among the largest in the world. While the investment figures remain undisclosed, similar U.S. projects typically exceed $10 billion. Enhanced ChatGPT services for UAE residents are also part of this initiative, according to OpenAI.

The initial capacity of 200 megawatts is slated for completion by the end of 2026. G42 will provide the construction funding, while OpenAI and Oracle will manage operations. Collaborators include NVIDIA and Cisco, indicating a strong technology partnership. This project aligns with the UAE’s goal of fostering AI enterprise and infrastructure development.

In another development, Cloudera launched an on-premises (on-prem) version of its Data Visualization tool, aimed at improving analytics for multi-cloud and hybrid environments. The integration with AI aims to address challenges like data silos, enabling organizations to gain better insights while ensuring secure access to their data.

Certes and Carahsoft formed a partnership to enhance data protection solutions for government agencies, focusing on transitioning from traditional perimeter defenses to a data-centric security model. Their DPRM solution aims to comply with NIST standards, incorporating quantum-safe encryption and policy-based access controls.

Zscaler was positioned by Gartner in the Leaders quadrant of the 2025 Magic Quadrant for Security Service Edge, marking the fourth consecutive year the company achieved this distinction. The Security Services Edge (SSE) framework enhances access to internet resources and private applications, amid a projected growth of over 15% in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market.

Acceldata introduced its Agentic Data Management Platform, enhancing data governance for AI agents. The platform will be generally available by July 31, 2025, and aims to address the complexities introduced by AI-driven environments.

Jamf showcased updates at Jamf Nation Live, including AI automation features that streamline device management tasks. Significant enhancements to security and compliance processes were also presented, aimed at improving enterprise management of Apple devices.

Atos reaffirmed its position as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Outsourced Digital Workplace Services for the ninth consecutive year, highlighting its commitment to sustainable digital workplace strategies.

Lastly, Tata Communications integrated the TGN-IA2 submarine cable system to enhance connectivity across Asia, which anticipates benefiting various sectors reliant on data-intensive applications.
