Eviden completes deployment of satellite spectrum monitoring system

Eviden completed delivery of a satellite spectrum monitoring system to the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) for the establishment of the monitoring station named EOS/ΗΩΣ, a facility intended to monitor frequencies used in Satellite Communications (Satcom).

EETT is the Independent Administrative Authority that regulates, supervises and monitors Greece’s electronic communications and postal services and retained responsibility for satellite spectrum issues; the authority selected the solution through an open international tender co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and National Resources.

SkyMon formed the backbone of the deployment and provided a radio-frequency traffic monitoring capability that automated observation of satellites in GSO; the solution allowed fixed and mobile operators to monitor satellite-to-ground station links from a centralized hub and to maintain oversight of radio-frequency usage.

Eviden, together with partner Edil Hellas SA, established a fixed monitoring station tailored to the frequency spectrum used in Satcom, which incorporated reflector-type antennas, a radio-frequency system linking antennas to measurement equipment, a transmitter geolocation capability, hardware and software for data recording, processing, storage and visualization, a monitoring and control platform, and an independent power supply to support continuous operation.

Eviden operated as the Atos Group product brand for hardware and software products with approximately €1 billion in revenue and activities in 36 countries, and Atos Group described its purpose as helping design the future of the information space.
