Diraq to Deploy Eight-Qubit Silicon Spin Quantum Computer at Equinix Sydney

Diraq and Equinix, Inc. said they plan to deploy Diraq’s Diraq quantum computer in an Equinix data center in Sydney, Australia. The effort focuses on running the system in a shared commercial data center setting.

The companies said the installed quantum computer uses a silicon chip with eight qubits, and that cryogenic cooling and control electronics were self-contained. They also said the full system fits within an Equinix data center alongside standard servers, with less than 20kW of power, and that higher qubit counts require only a chip replacement.

Diraq said the system includes remote monitoring and secure integration with classical CPUs and GPUs that power today’s computing. The collaboration also described operating alongside the cloud and AI systems already in Equinix’s data center, with an exploration of quantum and AI working together as both technologies scale.
