Daily Intelligence Brief: GSMA, CISA, JumpCloud and enterprise infrastructure updates - September 24, 2025

GSMA launched its report, “Digital Nations 2025: Achieving the ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan,” at the Digital Nation Summit in Kuala Lumpur. The report outlines a three-step agenda aimed at bridging the infrastructure gap across the ASEAN region.

The report emphasizes the importance of enhancing investments in 5G, fibre, and cloud infrastructure. It also highlights the need to harmonize data frameworks, trade regulations, and cybersecurity measures to facilitate seamless cross-border services. Furthermore, it advocates for stronger regional cooperation to share expertise and enhance capacity building.

With ASEAN's economic growth expanding from USD 737 billion to over USD 4 trillion since 2000, the report notes that further growth can be achieved through digital advancements. The GSMA also introduced its new flagship event, M360 ASEAN, scheduled for September 9-10, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on policy alignment and regional progress.

Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA, stated, “ASEAN has already delivered a five-fold expansion in economic output this century, yet our Digital Nations research shows that progress is uneven.” He highlighted Singapore's lead in the digital readiness index while calling attention to the existing gaps in digital readiness and the need for stronger regulatory frameworks amongst member states.

Today, CISA released a cybersecurity advisory detailing lessons learned from an incident response engagement following the detection of potential malicious activity identified through security alerts generated by the agency’s Endpoint Detection And Response (EDR) tool. This advisory highlights takeaways that illuminate the urgent need for timely patching, comprehensive incident response planning, and proactive threat monitoring to mitigate risks from similar vulnerabilities.

The advisory outlines the tactics, techniques, and procedures employed by cyber threat actors, including exploitation of GeoServer Vulnerability CVE-2024-36401 for initial access. By understanding these TTPs, organizations can enhance their defenses against similar threats.

CISA recommends organizations prioritize patch management, strengthen incident response plans, and enhance threat monitoring. The agency urges organizations to apply these lessons learned to bolster their security posture, improve preparedness, and reduce the risk of future compromises.

JumpCloud Inc. released an e-book titled “Who Let the Bot In? Control Agentic AI Before It Goes Too Far,” which explores the challenges regarding security and governance posed by the adoption of agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI). The publication includes a Risk Readiness Checklist aimed at helping organizations determine their preparedness.

Agentic AI, which functions independently similar to a digital coworker, introduces risks that many organizations are ill-equipped to handle. A report from JumpCloud indicated that while 82% of organizations utilize AI agents, only 44% have established formal policies to manage them. This discrepancy creates vulnerabilities to unaddressed threats.

The e-book proposes an “identity-first” governance model, suggesting that AI agents should be treated similarly to humans, with unique identities assigned and their activities monitored in real time. It serves as a resource for IT and security leaders to understand agentic AI risks and implement essential governance strategies.

Melanie Hohman joined Privileged Remote Access (PRA) as Vice President of PRA Production Services, based in Chicago, bringing over two decades of production experience to lead and expand the company's production services amid an evolving event landscape. In her role, she will oversee daily operations, ensuring consistent processes and resource optimization.

Before joining PRA, Hohman was Executive Director of Integrated Production at George P. Johnson, managing the production lifecycle for Google Cloud. Her career includes key roles at Intel, Freeman, and GPJ, creating impactful experiences for major clients. Ariane Coldiron, CEO of PRA, remarked on Hohman’s leadership capabilities, emphasizing her understanding of brand strategy and commitment to mentoring event professionals.

Applied Materials announced a collaboration with GlobalFoundries to establish a waveguide fabrication facility in Singapore. This initiative aims to bolster photonics technology, which plays a role in Augmented Reality (AR) glasses and other AI applications, through high-volume manufacturing. Paul Meissner, Vice President and General Manager of Applied Materials’ Photonics Platforms Business, noted the importance of photonics in meeting the demands of next-generation AI applications.

Corero Network Security announced an expansion of its partnership with Netceed to provide advanced security solutions to UK service providers. The agreement includes the delivery of real-time Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, traffic analysis, and Zero Trust controls, enabling UK providers to enhance service continuity and secure operations.

At the end of August, Finnish telecommunications company Elisa introduced a feature enabling customers to block incoming calls from foreign numbers if they are not expecting such calls. This initiative aims to reduce the number of scam calls targeting users, with over 10,000 customers already activating the call-blocking feature.
