Mplify joins GSMA Open Gateway to unify network APIs across wired and wireless domains
Mplify has joined the GSMA's Open Gateway ecosystem, a collaborative framework designed to unify network APIs across wired and wireless technologies. This integration aims to support connectivity that responds to real-time demands, relevant to AI-driven applications.
The alliance involves Mplify, the GSMA, the Linux Foundation, and TM Forum, collectively working on bridging mobile and fixed networks. This joint effort addresses needs such as network performance adaptation and autonomous resource optimization, reflecting an emphasis on connected infrastructure coordination.
Technically, Mplify contributes its Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) APIs, which interface with GSMA's CAMARA APIs developed for mobile operators. This combination creates a Multi-Domain Orchestration Framework (MDOF) capable of handling Quality on Demand, AI-based operational automation, and federated Network as a Service supply chains.
The collaboration builds on demonstrations including a Quality on Demand use case shown at MWC Barcelona, involving GSMA, Colt, and Orange. It will continue with further agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) demonstrations at Mplify's Global Network as a Service (NaaS) Event 2025 in Dallas, showcasing real-time intelligence and network orchestration across global providers.
Henry Calvert, Head of Networks at GSMA, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Mplify as a key part of the GSMA Open Gateway framework. Their participation strengthens our shared mission to create an open, interoperable ecosystem built on common network APIs. Alignment across both fixed and mobile networks is essential to unlock the full potential of digital transformation for enterprises, enabling seamless connectivity, faster innovation, and consistent user experiences across all technologies and geographies.” Pascal Menezes, CTO at Mplify, said, “In an AI-powered world, no one wants to think about the network – they just expect it to perform. By aligning with GSMA Open Gateway, we’re enabling that seamless experience across wired and wireless environments, where connectivity, automation, and assurance simply happen.” Sridhar Gollapudi, Telco Market Lead at Google Cloud, stated, “As intent-driven consumer experiences become possible with agentic AI, it is imperative that the network evolves to deliver outcomes to the customers, while abstracting the underlying complexities. This requires networks to be extensible and flexible, transforming from programmable to the autonomous operation paradigm.” Mirko Voltolini, VP, Technology and Innovation at Colt Technology Services, added, “Mplify’s alignment with GSMA’s Open Gateway marks a transformative leap toward a truly hyperconnected global API ecosystem. By empowering automation and simplifying complexity, it enables seamless digital experiences that put users at the center.”
The Open Gateway program incorporates over 80 mobile operator groups representing 292 networks and more than 80% of mobile connections globally. Mplify’s integration represents a move toward an Application Programming Interface (API) layer for programmable networks, contributing to an automated supply chain infrastructure related to the AI economy and connecting wired, wireless, and cloud networks through open APIs.
