ControlMonkey Unifies Cloud and On-Prem Infrastructure Automation with AI-powered IaC Platform

One platform for governance, visibility, and resilience across hybrid clouds

ControlMonkey announced support for VMware’s workloads, extending its end-to-end Infrastructure as Code (Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)) automation platform from public cloud to on-premises (on-prem) VMware. This development allows enterprises to run cloud and on-prem as one: a single set of controls, audit trail, and truth.

CIOs recognized the complexity involving two distinct realms, specifically two toolsets and narratives. The integration addresses these issues by synchronizing operations across both environments.

ControlMonkey now integrates VMware into its existing Terraform automation. This integration now allows for governance, compliance, and resilience across the entire infrastructure. Consequently, risk committees can review a unified and audit-ready account for all platforms.

With ControlMonkey’s VMware integration, enterprises can:

  • Generate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) code automatically for VMware resources, aligning on-prem management with cloud standards.
  • Back up VMware daily as IaC to facilitate rapid recovery of resources if deleted.
  • Enforce approvals, guardrails, and audit trails across both VMware and cloud, consolidating the control framework.
  • Detect drift and unmanaged resources consistently in VMware, similar to existing capabilities in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Support migrations with consistent visibility and backups as workloads transition between VMware and public cloud environments.

Despite the migration of workloads to the cloud, many enterprises continue to rely on VMware for essential functions, thus necessitating a unified operational approach. ControlMonkey simplifies this management by merging the operations into a single model.

“Hybrid cloud is here to stay,” said Aharon Twizer, CEO and co-founder of ControlMonkey. “Enterprises don’t just need governance for public cloud accounts. They require the same visibility, resilience, and confidence for VMware. By unifying VMware and public cloud under one IaC automation platform, we provide a single audit trail for risk committees and enhance migration safety.”

With this release, ControlMonkey aims to enhance confidence in all changes, now extending this assurance to encompass both hybrid cloud systems and VMware resources.
