Cognizant partners with SmartestEnergy to enhance cybersecurity

Cognizant announced a collaboration with SmartestEnergy to enhance cybersecurity capabilities through Managed Extended Detection & Response (MXDR) and a 24/7 Security Operations (SecOps) Centre (SecOps). This strategic initiative aims to bolster SmartestEnergy's security posture while it scales operations internationally and supports businesses in their transition to net zero.

As SmartestEnergy invests in advanced cybersecurity measures, it seeks to safeguard customer data, comply with evolving regulations, and address sophisticated cyber threats. Cognizant's MXDR service, which encompasses technology, personnel, and processes, will support continuous monitoring and threat prevention, thereby minimizing disruptions.

The deployment includes a SecOps Centre that facilitates proactive threat hunting and rapid incident management. This initiative looks to enhance existing security measures and establish resilience against potential cyberattacks. Cognizant will also develop a roadmap for integrating security technologies and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Ryan Bateman, Head of Information Security (infosec) at SmartestEnergy, emphasized the importance of a cybersecurity partner that understands operational complexities, stating, “With Cognizant's support, we look to deliver high levels of assurance to our ecosystem and ensure business continuity.” Cognizant's UK&I Managing Director, Rohit Gupta, noted the firm's extensive investments in cybersecurity capabilities, positioning them as a suitable partner for SmartestEnergy's growth.
