Aviz Service Nodes (ASN) version 2.0 introduces enhancements in network observability tailored for enterprise and telecommunications environments, featuring packet deduplication, advanced Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), and improved packet capture capabilities that support contemporary 5G and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network architectures.
Advancements in Packet Deduplication
Autonomous System Number (ASN) 2.0 implements a real-time packet deduplication mechanism with analysis intervals as fine as eight milliseconds, enabling identification and removal of duplicate packets based on configurable parameters such as packet source, anchor offsets, and time windows. This functionality aids in reducing redundant data processing, thereby supporting efficient network traffic management across multi-hop scenarios.
Enhanced Application Identification via Advanced DPI
The update extends ASN’s utility beyond telecommunications by integrating an advanced Deep Packet Inspection engine capable of classifying over 500 applications at line rate. This Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) utilizes methodologies including pattern recognition, Server Name Indication matching, IP geolocation, and port-based analysis, capturing metrics such as user agent data and key network performance indicators to facilitate detailed traffic analysis and operational optimization.
Improved Packet Capture Features
ASN 2.0 enhances packet capture by providing configurable interface-level capture settings allowing selection of specific ports and traffic directions, adjustable capture durations up to 10,000 milliseconds, and customizable file size limits. These capabilities support the generation of PCAP files for live traffic analysis, aiming to assist network teams in diagnosing and resolving network issues within enterprise and telecommunications contexts.
Support for 5G Core Network Components
The release also incorporates support for 4G-LTE, 5G Non-Standalone Architecture, and 5G Standalone (SA) Architecture traffic, enabling ASN to correlate control and user plane data while tracking subscriber sessions. Metadata export via Kafka protocols facilitates real-time data availability for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in monitoring and management tasks.
