Acronis launches Acronis GenAI Protection for MSPs to monitor and secure generative AI usage
Acronis launched Acronis GenAI Protection, a monitoring and security solution that gives managed service providers a way to control generative AI usage across client environments. The company said the goal is to address risks involving sensitive data exposure and malicious prompt manipulation.
According to Acronis, organizations are using generative AI tools more quickly, while tools marketed to consumers can offer limited enterprise visibility. The company also said enterprise solutions are not designed for delivery and management through MSPs.
Acronis GenAI Protection is built around a centralized console integrated into the Acronis platform, which supports monitoring AI usage across customer environments. Acronis said the capabilities include discovering and monitoring generative AI applications for shadow AI usage and visibility, inspecting prompts to prevent unauthorized transmission of sensitive data such as PII or PHI, and detecting and blocking malicious prompts intended to manipulate AI behavior or compromise workflows.
The launch is described as the initial phase of Acronis Cyber Workspace, with additional capabilities planned for release to deliver a protected AI workspace natively integrated into the Acronis platform. “Generative AI adoption is accelerating, but it introduces new risks that businesses are not fully equipped to manage,” said Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis. “MSPs are uniquely positioned to help businesses adopt AI securely, but until now they haven’t had the right tools to monitor and manage it effectively. GenAI Protection enables MSPs to turn AI security into a managed service, creating new revenue opportunities while protecting their customers from emerging risks.”
