The Cybercrime Machine: Infoblox Releases 2026 Threat Landscape Report, Exposes the Automated, AI-Fueled Economy behind Modern Cyberattacks

Infoblox released its 2026 Threat Landscape Report, using DNS telemetry to describe how cybercrime operations were structured around services, infrastructure, and domain use patterns. The report connects those observations to the time available for defenders when they rely on detection and response.

The report said cybercrime evolved into an industrialized criminal economy, and it framed the findings around four dimensions: industrialized services for attacks at scale, hidden infrastructure for evasion, evolving lures reaching victims, and expanding attack surfaces opening new footholds inside the enterprise. It also cited data sources including trillions of DNS queries and billions of underground criminal transactions.

Infoblox reported that nearly 25 percent of 120 million newly observed domains were high or critical risk. It also stated that traffic distribution systems were the most prevalent threat, impacting more than 95 percent of networks, and that 88 percent of threat-related domains appeared in only one customer environment, with 44 percent active for a single day. The report further said 65 percent of Infoblox Threat Defense customers queried domains associated with residential proxy networks, and that scam-related domains increased 62 percent year over year.
