SUSE expands Rancher Prime with integrated AI capabilities

SUSE Rancher Prime and SUSE Artificial Intelligence (AI) provide unified, secure platforms with integrated observability, AI inference engine, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) proxy to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and value.

The cloud native platform of choice now delivers AI simplicity and deeper observability for both container and AI workloads, SUSE announced. Extending the core capabilities of SUSE Rancher Prime, the platform includes a specialized stack for managing hybrid AI workloads.

“The future of enterprise IT will run on secure, containerized AI applications, with specialized workloads across any hybrid cloud environment,” said Thomas Di Giacomo, Chief Product and Technology Officer at SUSE. This platform serves as a foundation for SUSE AI, positioning customers to manage their complex IT workloads and advance their AI strategies.

According to IDC, by 2028, 65% of “build your own” agentic AI projects will have been abandoned after failing to meet ROI goals, prompting the need for platforms that aid in secure AI operationalization. Built on SUSE Rancher Prime, SUSE AI supports security, observability, and frameworks for operational efficiency.

“IDC's research shows that enterprises struggle to bring complex GenAI projects to production due to fractured integrations, making unified platforms essential,” said Michele Rosen, Research Manager at IDC.

SUSE Rancher Prime and SUSE AI achieve CNCF Conformance, allowing enterprises to operate across various infrastructures while addressing critical business requirements for data security and sovereignty.

The latest release of SUSE AI includes features such as AI Operations (AIOps), which simplifies overhead and cost visibility.

Key features include: the MCP proxy for managing multiple endpoints, an expanded AI inference engine portfolio for efficient Large Language Model (LLM) inference, and enhanced observability metrics.

SUSE enhances its offerings further through strategic partnerships, collaborating with companies like ClearML and Katonic to strengthen AI management solutions.

Enhancements to SUSE Rancher Prime include a tech preview of a context-aware AI agent named Liz, aimed at simplifying Kubernetes management. The platform also features virtual clusters for optimizing Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) resources, full stack management capabilities, and VMware modernization with advanced networking functionality.

SUSE Rancher Developer Access was recently launched, providing UI extensions for developers to utilize SUSE Application Collection in managing their application environments.
