Sophos released its 2026 MSP Perspectives Report, which describes a growing role for managed service providers in delivering cybersecurity leadership and guidance. The report centers on how MSPs are being asked to support governance and risk activities that some organizations do not maintain in-house.
According to the report, MSPs estimate that nearly half of their customers, 46%, rely on them to perform Information Security Officer (CISO) functions. Sophos also cited research indicating that MSPs expect demand for CISO services to increase over the next 12 months, tied to cybersecurity risk and compliance obligations.
The findings also address operational delivery and compliance coverage. MSPs estimated they could save 53% of their time by using a single, unified platform for security posture and compliance management and reporting, and 81% said it would reduce time spent on those activities by more than 30%. In compliance services, 99% of surveyed MSPs provide at least one cybersecurity compliance service, while 58% offer full compliance program management.
Sophos CISO Advantage, available beginning October 2026, is described as a structured, scalable and billable cyber program management service delivered through Sophos Fusion. Sophos said it uses agentic AI-accelerated assessment, reporting and roadmap workflows to support board-ready insights and framework-mapped evidence, and the company said it commissioned the report with Vanson Bourne in April 2026.
