Siemens AG ranks first in software for green hydrogen production, Schneider Electric follows

Siemens AG has emerged as the top provider of software for green hydrogen production in a recent ranking by Application Binary Interface (ABI) Research, closely followed by Schneider Electric. This assessment highlights the companies' performance across various criteria, including innovation and implementation capabilities.

In the ranking, Siemens and Schneider Electric were identified as market leaders, with ABB trailing in third place. This evaluation took into account the impact of software solutions on capital and operational expenses associated with hydrogen production, supporting the entire plant lifecycle.

As the demand for green hydrogen technologies grows, particularly from 2026 and beyond, hydrogen producers are looking for partners that can facilitate the generation of these resources. Daniel Burge, Research Analyst at ABI Research, notes that enterprises are increasingly seeking comprehensive solutions that can support various electrolysis processes across large and small scales.

According to Burge, Siemens's leading position is attributed to its partnerships in significant green hydrogen production regions and advanced fleet management capabilities. “Comprehensive offerings that cover the lifecycle of production, from initial design through to the expansion and replication of operational plants, are essential for the emergent green hydrogen ecosystem,” he stated.

Additionally, Burge emphasizes the potential growth of enterprise-level electrolysis, highlighting how smaller vendors like Homer Energy and ZeroAvia provide tailored solutions for specific stages in the hydrogen production process.

The findings from ABI Research's report on software for green hydrogen production underline the critical role of effective software solutions in the growth of the green hydrogen market.
