Sent Raises $12M Series A to Supercharge AI Messaging Infrastructure

Sent, a unified API for reaching users over SMS, WhatsApp, or RCS through one integration, reported an oversubscribed $12 million Series A. The funding cycle adds to its shift toward licensed telecom infrastructure in the United States, where it can allocate numbers directly.

According to the company, its platform routes messages based on channel availability and channel optimality, so a message is sent to the channel a recipient can reach. Sent also described built-in compliance features, carrier relationships, and deliverability performance metrics tied to routing decisions made in real time.

Sent said the API determines, in real time, which platforms can receive a message to a number and which channel is optimal when the number is reachable on WhatsApp, SMS, and RCS. It reported mapped channel preferences across direct relationships with 75+ carriers, support for one API for SMS, WhatsApp and RCS, and routing configured for end-to-end delivery typically under 200ms, with 99.9% uptime.

The company said the Series A was led by Companyon Ventures with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, UIF and CP Overture. Sent also said the round included pre-seed angel investors from Clay, Eleven Labs and Attentive, and that it will use the funding to expand its direct carrier network and deepen its AI-native, agent-facing messaging infrastructure.
