SEALSQ to invest $10 million in WISeSat.Space for satellite deployment and quantum key distribution

SEALSQ Corp plans to invest $10 million in WISeSat.Space, aiming to enhance satellite constellation deployment and advance space-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) communications. This partnership will also focus on decentralized Internet of Things (IoT) transactions.

The investment, pending board approval, signifies a step toward establishing a quantum-resilient satellite network designed for ultra-secure communications and transactional IoT services.

The upcoming June 2025 mission will include a Proof of Concept featuring SEALCOIN, which utilizes Hedera’s Decentralized Ledger Technology for transactions between satellites and IoT devices. This advancement supports industries such as smart cities and logistics.

SEALSQ notes that the investment opens a business opportunity to connect trillions of IoT devices worldwide, allowing the firm to extend its Post-Quantum technology via WISeSat’s satellites to remote locations.

The global quantum communication market, valued above $1 billion in 2024, is expected to grow steadily due to increasing demands for security in various sectors, including finance and healthcare. QKD provides enhanced security by using quantum mechanics for data protection.

Through the integration of QKD with WISeSat's infrastructure, SEALSQ and WISeKey aim to secure a position in this growing market.

WISeKey has plans for multiple satellite deployments in 2025 to enhance the network for global coverage, focusing on secure IoT connectivity.

The forthcoming launch of WISeSat 2.1 will validate SEALSQ's Quantum RootKey as part of its QKD initiatives, seeking to address security challenges in today’s digital environment.

WISeKey's technology is designed to protect against both classical and quantum threats, ensuring secure command authentication to prevent hijacking and safeguard sensitive data globally.

This initiative aims to provide a scalable Satellite-as-a-Service platform for quantum-secure communications and IoT, addressing emerging cyber and environmental challenges.
