StorPool provides software-defined block storage that aggregates local drives in standard x86 servers into a unified, shared storage pool for primary workloads in private and public cloud environments. The platform targets service providers, enterprises, and other organizations that deploy virtualized and containerized infrastructure and require shared, resilient block storage without proprietary storage arrays.

The StorPool storage software runs on Linux and is designed to be deployed either in a fully converged architecture, where storage services run on the same nodes as compute workloads, or in a disaggregated model with dedicated storage nodes. By using commodity servers and a mix of HDDs, SSDs, and Non-volatile Memory Express (NVME) drives, StorPool forms a distributed storage cluster that presents block devices to client systems over the network. This aligns the platform with data storage and cloud infrastructure categories in enterprise IT taxonomies.

StorPool integrates with virtualization and cloud orchestration platforms such as KVM-based stacks and OpenStack (cloud infrastructure), where it provides persistent volumes for virtual machines and cloud instances. The platform exposes block storage through standard protocols and client components, enabling integration with existing Linux infrastructures and hypervisors. In these environments, StorPool is used as a shared storage layer for compute clusters, supporting multi-tenant and multi-workload deployments for service providers and enterprise IT teams.
