OpenText Appoints James McGourlay as Interim CEO

OpenText Corporation appointed James McGourlay, a 25-year veteran of the company, as Interim Chief Executive Officer following the departure of Mark J. Barrenechea. The transition is effective immediately. The company also established an Executive Committee to guide operations during this period and commenced a search for a permanent CEO.

The formation of the Executive Committee includes McGourlay, who previously served as Executive Vice President of International Sales, along with P. Thomas Jenkins as Executive Chair and Chief Strategy Officer, and other key executives from the company. The Board of Directors expressed confidence in McGourlay's leadership abilities during this transitional phase.

OpenText plans to work closely with financial advisors to explore opportunities to reshape its portfolio, aiming to enhance focus on its core Information Management for Artificial Intelligence (AI) business. The company noted that there is no certainty regarding specific outcomes from these efforts. Jenkins emphasized the importance of this leadership transition in positioning the company for future growth.

In conjunction with the leadership changes, Savinay Berry has been appointed Chief Technology Officer, transitioning from his prior role as Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer. The Board's CEO Search Committee will consist of independent directors tasked with identifying a suitable replacement for the outgoing CEO.

McGourlay expressed his commitment to guiding the company in its interim CEO role, ensuring continuity in its Business Optimization Plan while focusing on enhancing customer value and market positioning.
