Nokia expands industrial application portfolio with new edge apps

Nokia has expanded its industrial application ecosystem with the launch of six new Industry 4.0 applications on the MX Industrial Edge platform. This expansion supports enterprises in enhancing automation, efficiency, safety, security, and sustainability by integrating applications from various technology partners such as Bosch Rexroth, Ipsotek, Nozomi Networks, Prosys OPC, SmartCone, and SwitchON.

The new applications address challenges faced by enterprises in asset-intensive industries, allowing them to leverage real-time Operational technology (OT) data for their digitalization goals. These applications utilize machine control, video analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with environmental sensing and network security to create distinct industrial use cases.

The newly onboarded applications include Prosys Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) Forge for industrial data collection, Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX Operating System (OS) for machine automation, SwitchON DeepInspect for AI-powered quality inspection, Ipsotek VISuite for advanced video analytics, SmartCone’s HeatGuardian for workplace safety, and Nozomi Networks’ platform for asset visibility and security. Together, these applications offer enterprises the tools they need to improve operations and ensure compliance with safety and sustainability standards.

“Enterprises require intelligent, secure, and scalable solutions to navigate the complexities of digital transformation. The expansion of industrial applications deployed on MXIE underscores Nokia’s commitment to fostering an open and interoperable industrial edge ecosystem. With our expanded portfolio of industrial edge applications, we are enabling businesses to accelerate their digitalization journey while ensuring quality, safety and security, efficiency, and sustainability,” said Stephan Litjens, Vice President, Enterprise Campus Edge at Nokia.
