Nokia expands industrial application ecosystem with six new tools

Nokia has announced the launch of six new applications aimed at enhancing industrial digitalization through its MX Industrial Edge platform. This expansion comes as part of the company's effort to bolster industry automation, efficiency, safety, security, and sustainability. The new applications, developed in partnership with companies such as Bosch Rexroth and SwitchON, provide innovative solutions addressing the challenges faced by enterprises in asset-intensive sectors.

Enterprises in industries such as mining and manufacturing regularly encounter difficulties in leveraging real-time Operational technology (OT) data. The applications utilize technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), video analytics, and environmental sensing, allowing companies to manage their operations more effectively. For instance, Prosys Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) Forge offers efficient data collection from industrial assets, facilitating data analysis and system interoperability.

Key new applications include:

  • Industrial DataOps: Prosys OPC UA Forge organizes industrial data for various assets, ensuring interoperability.
  • Machine Automation: Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX Operating System (OS) enables seamless machine integration and process automation.
  • AI-Powered Quality Inspection: SwitchON’s DeepInspect utilizes AI to reduce defects in manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced Video Analytics: Ipsotek VISuite improves safety and production monitoring through precise object tracking.
  • Workplace Safety: SmartCone’s HeatGuardian monitors workplace heat stress to ensure safety.
  • Security for OT and Internet of Things (IoT): Nozomi Networks’ Platform enhances asset visibility and threat detection.

According to Stephan Litjens, Vice President at Nokia, the expanded application portfolio is designed to help businesses navigate the complexities of digital transformation while maintaining quality and compliance with safety standards. These applications facilitate improved operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability, making the industrial edge ecosystem more interoperable and effective for users.
