Netskope reports results from inaugural Promptathon

Netskope held a company-wide Promptathon that increased employee Artificial Intelligence (AI) use and produced deployable AI solutions; this development matters to enterprise IT and security leaders because it documents AI adoption, cross-team workflows, and compliant platform use.

Research Overview

The Promptathon was a one-day, company-wide competition with planning and submission windows to enable participation across a dispersed workforce. Teams were invited from every department and used company-managed AI platforms to build solutions for real business challenges.

Key findings

More than 600 employees joined the event, forming over 100 teams and submitting more than 90 projects, with participation spanning 17 departments and more than 20 countries. A panel of 12 leaders evaluated entries on creativity, value, feasibility, and clarity, and seven teams were recognized for projects that demonstrated direct business utility.

Technical breakdown

Participants had access to company-managed platforms including ChatGPT, Gemini, and NotebookLM, chosen for broad availability and alignment with the firm’s privacy and security requirements. Judges assessed projects against criteria that included innovation and creativity, impact and value, feasibility and practicality, and presentation and clarity.

Operational impact

Usage of the supported AI platforms increased during the event, with weekly users rising from roughly 700 to about 1,500, and use levels have continued to grow in analytics following the Promptathon. Winning projects produced automations and tools used by IT and security for incident support and diagnosis, product teams for QA and scripting, sales for customer insight pairing, and HR for onboarding resources.

Leadership perspective

Organizers reported an internal demand for continued AI use and plan to hold additional Promptathons on an annual or semi-annual basis while creating a reference library of high-value use cases organized by function. Winning and high-scoring teams will present detailed project briefings in internal Tech Talks to share implementation details and lessons learned.
