NASA partners with Netflix for live streaming

NASA announced a partnership with Netflix to broadcast live programming through its NASA+ service starting this summer. The collaboration will provide audiences access to rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and live views from the International Space Station.

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, stated, “The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience.” The partnership aims to inspire new generations of viewers by making NASA's work more accessible.

With Netflix's reach of over 700 million subscribers, NASA intends to engage a global audience and enhance accessibility to its science and exploration initiatives. The agency maintains that bringing space exploration into homes is vital for inspiring public interest and participation.

While the NASA+ service will be available on Netflix, it also remains free and ad-free through the NASA app and website. Additional programming details and schedules are expected to be announced prior to the launch.
