Fibocom unveils flagship CPE solution with MediaTek

Fibocom and MediaTek unveiled a flagship Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) solution at MWC 2026 and said it delivered faster, smarter, and more reliable network access for global users.

The companies said the design combined 5G-A connectivity with Wi‑Fi 8 and that it addressed homes and Server Message Block (SMB) deployments, referencing fixed wireless access (FWA) applications and operators and customers globally.

The CPE pairs Fibocom's FG390 5G module with MediaTek's Filogic 8800 802.11bn (Wi-Fi 8) (Wi‑Fi 8) chipset and uses MediaTek's T930 in the 5G module; it supports 2.4/5/6GHz tri-band concurrency and includes Enhanced Long-Range (ELR) and dRU technologies. The release said multi-AP collaboration reduced interference by over 40%, extended wall penetration and coverage by up to 40%, lowered latency to sub-millisecond levels, and doubled throughput even with 200+ devices connected.

The companies presented the reference design at MWC 2026 as a flagship CPE that combined 5G‑A and Wi‑Fi 8 elements and that the release described as designed for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Edge Resource Allocator (ERA) compatibility and to support AI devices, AR/VR applications, and smart-home networks.

Evan Su, General Manager of Wireless Communications at MediaTek, said, “MediaTek and Fibocom have maintained a long-term partnership, leveraging our complementary strengths in chip development and solution delivery. Together, we continuously innovate to unlock new FWA applications and value, empowering operators and customers globally with high-performance, intelligent, and competitive connectivity solutions.”

Fibocom said it will deepen collaboration with core partners such as MediaTek, focusing on operators, enterprises, and households to continuously advance its technologies and solutions and to make Fixed-Wireless Access (FWA) the key enabler for 5G-A implementation while accelerating digital transformation across industries and building an open, win-win global communications ecosystem.
