Fibocom and MediaTek launch FG390 5G module for smart homes

Fibocom and MediaTek announced the launch of the FG390, a 5G module designed for smart homes and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This module integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G connectivity to enhance device coordination, centralized data management, and real-time decision-making.

The FG390 utilizes MediaTek's T930 platform, offering efficient cellular performance with peak speeds of 10 Gbps downlink and 2.8 Gbps uplink. This capability supports high-demand applications such as 8K video streaming and Augmented Reality (AR), providing stable connections even at cell edges.

This module also serves as a central hub for smart home functionality, ensuring compatibility with a variety of devices and adapting to user behavior through integrated AI algorithms. With advanced knowledge of user needs, the FG390 aims to streamline smart living experiences.

Equipped with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), the FG390 can deliver context-aware AI services for both consumer and enterprise applications. It supports Fixed-Wireless Access (FWA) solutions, promoting efficient data handling and operational capabilities within intelligent networks.

Evan Su, General Manager of Wireless Communications at MediaTek, noted the importance of the partnership with Fibocom in creating enhanced features for the FWA ecosystem. Simon Task Allocation Orchestrator (TAO), VP of MBB Product Management Dept at Fibocom, emphasized the FG390's alignment with evolving connectivity needs for smart environments, highlighting ongoing collaboration to improve 5G solutions.
