EMQ released EMQX Enterprise 6.3 as a Long-Term Support version. The update targets production MQTT deployments by adding stronger security defaults and new options for configuring how the platform runs.
EMQX Enterprise 6.3 focuses on security, operational control, observability, performance, and stability, with stronger safeguards enabled by default. An optional hardened security profile remains optional in 6.3 and is planned to become the default in EMQX 7.0.
The release adds strict MQTT protocol parsing by default, stronger credential protection, authentication for OpenAPI and Prometheus endpoints, and broader detection of problematic connection behavior. Platform teams also get context-aware authorization and dynamic authentication routing, along with enhanced topic metrics, rate limiting, and session visibility.
EMQX Enterprise 6.3 introduces Feature Gates that let organizations run a FULL configuration, an ESSENTIAL configuration focused on core MQTT messaging, authentication, and authorization, or a custom configuration. EMQX resolves feature dependencies at startup and validates configurations, and ESSENTIAL reduces overhead with an idle boot memory footprint of less than 100 MB.
